Nazariyat, Journal for the History of Islamic Philosophy and Sciences, issued twice a year in English and Turkish (Nazariyat, İslam Felsefe ve Bilim Tarihi Araştırmaları Dergisi), is a refereed international journal.
Nazariyat publishes original studies, critical editions of classical texts and book reviews on Islamic philosophy, kalam, theoretical aspects of Sufism and the history of sciences. The goal of Nazariyat is to contribute to the discovery, examination and reinterpretation of theoretical traditions in the history of Islamic thought, by giving special attention to the post-classical period of it.
Article Submission and Application
The first step for publication is to send the article through online application system on www.nazariyat.org. After uploading your work at website, it is enough start the publication process by sending a copy attached to an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Afterwards you will receive an automatic confirmation message in your e-mail address. Please contact us through e-mail at email@example.com if you do not receive this message.
The articles submitted for review should be drafted in Turkish or in English.
Only the articles that have not been published elsewhere qualify for publication
Two referees review all articles; only when necessary a third referee is called to review. The publication of an article depends on the referees’ approval. Authors are responsible for the revisions requested by the referees.
Form and Style
Submitted drafts should satisfy the following rules:
Articles should include between 5000 and 8000 words in total.
Articles should be drafted with MS Word processor, in normal margins, Times New Roman, font 10, 1.5 spaced and justified to the left.
Title, Abstract and Keywords
Drafts should include the following sections:
A title in English and an abstract including 150-200 words with a list of 5-8 keywords.
A footnote specified with the symbol (*) should include the following information: the author’s name, affiliated institution, e-mail address.
The submitted draft should have an additional page having author(s)’s full name(s) and institutional affiliation(s); and mailing address(es), work/cell phone numbers and e-mail address(es).
Footnotes and Bibliography
Nazariyat follows the citation rules according to Chicago Manual of Style, Notes and Bibliography (16th Ed.). The authors should observe the rules and formats outlined in The Chicago Manual of Style [Available online] both for quotations and for the bibliography.
Nazariyat follows Transliteration Guide of International Journal of Middle East Studies (IJMES) for Ottoman Turkish, Arabic and Persian words.
Under the conditions the journal specified, the articles accepted for publication in Nazariyat, Journal for the History of Islamic Philosophy and Sciences are translated into Turkish to be published in Nazâriyât, İslam Felsefe ve Bilim Tarihi Araştırmaları Dergisi.
